The International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) has been founded to bring the development of international kiteboarding activities under the well respected umbrella of the International Sailing Federation (ISAF).
  • PKRA Germany wraps up
    This year has been the most fantastic year for wind and weather conditions here in St. Peter-Ording, Germany. The sun has been out nearly every day and record-breaking temperatures have embraced hundreds of fans, spectators, locals as well as vacationers from all around the world. More than 114 competitors from 20 different nationalities competed in a total of 3 disciplines such as freestyle, race and board off.
  • Doubles and Board-Off completed at PKRA Germany
    It was an early start for the double eliminations this morning. Riders made there way out on the water at approximately 9:00am under partly cloudy skies and moderate, gusty winds. The winds began to pick up throughout the day making it possibly the windiest day of the event.
  • Pastor and Pulido win singles in St. Peter Ording
    The wind began to pick up in strength early this morning making it possible to finish the freestyle single elimination discipline. The weather has not been cooperating 100% in the wind department, however sunny blue skies and record-breaking temperatures have been the setting throughout most of the competition.
  • Mens Freestyle run into semi finals at PKRA Germany
    Today was much like the past couple of days here in St. Peter-Ording, Germany. The weather is absolutely fantastic! You could not ask for better conditions, the sun was out scorching the skin of hundreds of spectators, vacationers and locals out on the beach. Temperatures averaged 33 degrees Celsius, which is a record high for St. Peter-Ording and the wind averaged 15 knots most of the late morning and early afternoon.
  • PKRA Germany Day 4
    Today’s weather forecast was truly a gift, sunny blue skies and temperatures so hot you could fry an egg on the hood of any car. Hundreds of spectators were out and about on the beach in hopes of getting a glimpse of the professional rides that consumed the coastline.
  • Two more races completed in SPO, not suitable for freestyle
    Unfortunately the wind was not favorable for the freestylers today therefore race director Olaf Van Tol announced that he would run races for as long as the wind cooperates. The weather here in St Peter-Ording today was simply outstanding. Clear, sunny blue skies and record warm temperatures hovered the beach while vacationers, locals as well as crew enjoyed the sunshine. A total of two races were completed today before the wind completely diminished.
  • Freestyle and first Racing at PKRA Germany
    The men’s freestyle single eliminations kicked off this morning under beautiful blue skies and moderate winds. The wind speed was a bit unpredictable at times, making it difficult for the competitors to perform. During the 5th heat of the day the AP flag rose and the horn sounded announcing that the heat would be abandoned due to the lack of wind and shallow water caused by the outgoing tide.
  • PKRA Germany kicks off with Freestyle Trials
    The weather here in St. Peter-Ording is always unpredictable. During this morning’s riders meeting the race director, Olaf Van Tol announced that he would not run the competition until the wind conditions picked up in strength. Organizers as well as crewmembers had extra time this morning to prepare and tie up loose ends.
  • Caribbean Racing Championships Report and Results
    With two events in one, Puerto Rico celebrated its first international multidiscipline Windsurfing/Kitesurfing event, last weekend July 9th to 11th. Both events attracted sailors from countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, France, and United States. The kitesurfing portion was an IKA sanctioned event, titled the Caribbean Kite Racing Championship, which awarded $10,000 USD in prize money and 410 IKA ranking points. This event is the first kite racing event of its class in the island of Puerto Rico.
  • PKRA Essaouira comes to an end
    The wind began to pick up in strength fairly early this morning, making it possible for an 11:30am start. The double eliminations resumed with women’s heat #15, Jalou Langeree (Naish, NED) against Ania Grzelinska (North, POL).
